A police official has been suspended for his attempt to snatch Tk 3 lakh from a local Awami League leader at Gurpatti in Shibganj municipality on Tuesday.

A police official has been suspended for his attempt to snatch Tk 3 lakh from a local Awami League leader at Gurpatti in Shibganj municipality on Tuesday.

Mahbub Alam Khan as its head to look into the incident. Police said AL leader Mainul Islam came out of Shibganj branch of Sonali Bank around 4:15pm on Tuesday withdrawing Tk 3 lakh. Three people, led by sub-inspector Shahidul Islam of Shibganj Police Station, intercepted him at Gurpatti and tried to take away his bag full of money after beating him. Locals rescued the victim and caught Yusuf and Ainal, two police informants, and gave them a good thrashing.
On information, officer-in-charge of the police station Habibul Islam along with a team rushed in and rescued them.
