A snatcher has allegedly stabbed a police constable to death when the law enforcers chased the criminal shortly after the incident of a snatching.
The incident took place on Sunday night on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway near Syed Nazrul Islam bridge tool plaza in Bhairab Port town of Kishoreganj.
The deceased was identified as Md. Arif Hossion (22) a Police Constable of Bhairab Bridge Ghat Camp, another person Md Dalim, Supervisor of Shamoly Bus Service also sustained serious injures in the incident and is now under going treatment at Zahurul Islam Medical College Hospital in Bajitpur.
Police Super of Kishoreganj Md Anower Hossion Khan said that a group of muggers snatched some money from a transport supervisor Dalim after chopping him on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway near Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge around 9am on Sunday night and tried to flee the scene. As the victim shouted for help, constable Arif rushed in from the nearby area.
When Arif was trying to capture one of the muggers he attacked the policeman with sharp weapon. Leaving him critically injured.
Locals and police took Arif and Dalim to Bhairab Hospital where doctors declared Arif dead.
Police Super Md. Anower Hossain Khan and others official visited the spot on Sunday night.
The body was sent to Kishoreganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A case was filed in this connection with Bhairab Police Station.
