M. Anwar, a police constable was shot dead by one of his colleagues at one stage of their quarrel at Baghaichhari upazila in Rangamati district on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred at Baghaihat police camp at about 9:45am, local witnesses said.
They said that constable M Anwar, 24, and constable Muktadir were locked in an altercation over a personal matter at the camp yesterday morning, and at one stage of exchanging heated words, Muktadir fired several shots at Anwar from his rifle, the OC of the police station said, adding, “One bullet hit his abdomen.”
Anwar was soon rushed to Khagrachhari Modern Hospital from where he was shifted to the Chittagong Combined Military Hospital by a helicopter at about 12:10pm. But the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’. Muktadir was arrested soon after the incident. Asked about what were the reasons of squabble, the OC said they had not known anything as yet.
