A Barishal court on Thursday night rejecting bail prayer of an appeared accused police official ordered to sent him to jail allegedly for torturing his wife.
Assistant Sub Inspector Isa Khan posted at Bhola police line and he sent to Barishal central jail on Thursday night after Abu Shamim Azad, judge of “Nari O Shishu Nirjaton Daman (Women and Children Repression Prevention) Tribunal” Barishal passed this order rejecting bail prayer of the appeared accused.
Court sources said Shahnaj Afroj and Isha Khan married on October 21, 2017 giving Tk.2.5 lakhs in cash to ASI Isa Khan for purchasing his motorcycle and huge ornaments by family members of Shahnaj. Shahnaj became pregnant within next six months and demanding more Tk. five lakhs as dowry drove away Shahnaj from home as her family failed to pay demanded amount. In an arbitration meeting held at the house of Isa Khan at Barishal police line on November 9, 2018, pregnancy of Shahnaj was aborted by torture of Isa Khan.
When the matter was alleged to police, Isa Khan begging pardon promised to continue married life with Shahnaj peacefully and the allegation was withdrawn by the complainant.
However on August 10, 2019 when Shahnaj came to the house of her brother, Isa Khan and his brothers coming there again demanding dowry tortured Shahnaj and the arbitration attempt failed.
So Shahnaj as complainant lodged a case against ASI Isa Khan and his two brothers on January 1, 2020 with the tribunal at Barishal.
