A police constable was killed and his two colleagues including 24 persons were injured in a road accident on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar road in Patia Upazila on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Avi Barua, 30, who had been working as a constable at Mansurabad Police Camp under Double Mooring Police Station.
The identities of the injured could not be ascertained immediately.
Officer-in-Charge of Potia Police Station Enayetullah said Avi along with his two colleagues was returning to his workplace at Chittagong Metropoliton Police (CMP) camp on motor-cycle. A truck hit the motorcycle at Indrapol area around 10.30pm, leaving one dead on the spot and other two severely injured.
The dead body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy and the injured were admitted at the hospital for the treatment, the OC added.
Human chain to defer the exams under NU: The students of Chittagong Govt College and Govt Mohsin College formed human chain infront of Chittagong Press club yesterday demanding shifting of the examination under National University of session 2013-14.
The students refuted the schedule of the examination dates and demanded new exam dates immediately.
A student of 4th honours class of Chittagong College Mizanur Rahman told this correspondent that NU has declared exam date of 4th year class scheduled to be held from February 20 next.
