Cop held with Yaba in Cox’s Bazar

Chakria Police Station of Cox’s Bazar arrested two persons, including a constable of SB police, during a drive.During the drive, police recovered 195 piece yaba and Tk 3 lakh 50 thousand in cash and three mobile handsets. The drive was conducted by a team of local police led by SI Mazhar at a residential hotel on Chakria Municipality Hospital are on Friday night. Chakriya Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kazi Mohammad Motiul Islam confirmed the arrest of police constable Mohammad Mehedi Hasan (43), who was suspended in 2017 for another crime.
The detained Mehdi Hasan is the son of Aziza Rahman of Talpukur area of Chirirbandar police station in Dinajpur district and the other detained Fayez Ahmed Dabu (35) is the son of Abul Kashem of Hazirpara area of Rampura, Dhaka.Police said an immediate raid was carried out on the news that Yaba was being sold at a residential hotel in Chakria Municipality.
Mehdi and Faiz, along with Yaba and cash, were detained from a room of the hotel. According to sources, Mehdi Hasan, constable of SB, was temporarily dismissed from the post of police constable on 2017. Since then, Mehdi has been involved in the drug trade. He had been taking drugs from Cox’s Bazar for several years and supplying drugs in Dhaka. Mehidi was eventually arrested by the police after he came to buy drugs from Chakria. Chakria police operations officer Md Ruhul Amin said that Mehdi, who was among the detainees, claimed that he was working with the constable of SB in Dhaka police inquiry.
On Saturday morning, his wife came to Chakria police station and identified her husband.At that time, the wife said, “My husband’s house is Dinajpur, but I have been living in Rampura Dhaka for a long time. Last Thursday my husband went out of his house to buy a motorcycle with Tk 5 lakh.Chakria police station arrested my husband on Friday night.”
Chakriya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Habibur Rahman said that SI Majhurul Islam filed a lawsuit against the accused. The two arrested were sent to court on Saturday.
