Kawsar Shaikh (40), a police constable was arrested on the charge of strangulating his wife to death for dowry.
Police raided Khalisakhali area under Koira Upazila in Khulna district and arrested him from there on Saturday..
Kawsar Shaikh is the son of one Entazuddin Shaikh of village Bemarta within Bemarta Union under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district. He was working in Gopalganj police line as a police constable.
It is allegedly reported that Kawsar strangulated his wife Mina Begum (34) to death with pillow in his village home on November 12 at night for dowry.
After the incident he had been absconding. In this connection Kamruzzaman, brother of the deceased lodged a case with Bagerhat Model PS against the police constable.
