A police man shot himself dead with his own gun after posting Facebook status at Mirpur-Section-14 in the capital on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Md Abdul Kuddus, 31, a nayek of Police. He lived at a barrack of the Public Order Management (POM) of Mirpur Police Lines.
He hailed from Rasulpur village at Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj district.
“Around 5:30am, he shot himself with his firearm on the POM field, said Selimuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaful Police Station.
“Hearing the gunshot, other barrack residents rushed to the field and found Kuddus dead. He had shot himself in the chest,” the OC said quoting Kaddu’s co-workers.
He said, “The reason behind Kuddus suicide could not be known yet. But, we have heard his status on Facebook. The matter is being investigated.”
The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the city, said the OC.
