A policeman committed suicide after jumping off the fifth floor of an eight-storey building at the Police Control Room (PCR) in the city on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sudhangsu Kumar Bishwas, 24, who worked as a constable in the PCR. He joined police service as a constable in 2015.
He hailed from Kharasuni village under Kaliganj upazila in Jhenaidah,
Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Outpost in-charge Bachchu Mia said,
Sudhangsu Kumar killed himself after jumping off the fifth floor of an eight-storey building at the Central Command and Control Centre of police in around 1:10pm.
The body of Sudhangsu was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he said.
Sudhangsu’s family has filed an unnatural death case over the incident.
