UNB, Laxmipur :
A police constable, who sustained burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack while discharging duty at a Laxmipur polling centre on the night (of January 4) before the 10th parliamentary polls, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early Wednesday.
Identified as M Imam Uddin, a constable posted at Laxmipur Sadar Police Station and a resident of Noakhali, he breathed his last at the burn unit of the hospital around 1:30am.
Ramganj Police Station officer-in-charge M Lokman Hossain said constable Imam had come
under the petrol bomb attack by the activists of the then BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance around 9:00pm on January 4, ahead of the 10th parliamentary election, while he was on duty at the polling centre at Kumartola Government Primary School in the upazila.
Later, he was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries after fighting for life for one month and nine days.
