Coordinated global initiative to prevent environmental disaster underscored

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Friday called for coordinated global initiatives to prevent environmental disaster.
“Environmental disaster does not remain confined to any single country. It is a global problem. Coordinated international initiatives are needed to face it,” he said inaugurating a two-day “International Nature Summit” at Notre Dame College in the city.
The minister hoped that the nature summit organized by Notre Dame College will play a vital role to stop environmental pollution.
He said the government has included environment related topics in textbooks to aware the young generation. “We have already started getting its good results,” he added.
Presided over by Notre Dame College Principal Hemanta Piyus Rosario, the inaugural function was also addressed by nature expert Dwijen Sharma, Nature and Life Foundation Chairman Mukit Majumder Babu and Nature Summit Coordinator Biplob Kumar Dev.
A total of 66 representatives from 41 countries, including Bangladesh, Germany, Ukraine, India, Nepal, China, Japan and South Korea are taking part in the conference.
Two scientific seminars will be held at the two-day conference.
