BSS, Dhaka :The country will observe the 43rd National Cooperatives Day 2014 today with grandeur and festivity across the country. The day coincides with the distribution of the National Cooperatives Award-2012 among the best Samabay Samity and Samabayees on the day.Addressing a press briefing yesterday at Samabay(Cooperatives) Directorate, LGRD and Cooperatives State Minister Mashiur Rahman Ranga said the theme of this year is ‘Cooperatives for secured socio-economy’.A discussion meeting will be held at Bangabandhu International ConferenceCentre at 10:30am and national cooperatives awards will be handed over after the discussion, he said.Ranga said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to address the discussion as the chief guest, while LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, State Minister Mashiur Rahman Ranga and Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on LGRD and Cooperatives Abul Hasnat Abdullah will also attend the award distribution ceremony. Besides, the day will be observed across the country with holding discussion, hoisting of national and samabay flag, samabay procession and cultural functions at district level, he added. He sought the cooperation of all for the success of the programme. On the day, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages highlighting significance of the day. Director General of the cooperatives Mafizul Islam said, “We will reach formalin free and safe agricultural products to customers across the country including Dhaka city by implementing projects within the next 5/6 months.”
