Cooperative training for women begins in city

A five-day training on ‘Management Capacity Building of Women for Co-operative Development’ started Sunday to strengthen the capability of women entrepreneurs.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Moshiur Rahman Ranga inaugurated the training session at BIAM Foundation jointly organized by Department of Cooperatives and International Cooperatives Moitree Sangstha – Asia and Pacific.
Secretary of Rural Development and Cooperatives A A Kader Sarker, Regional Director of Asia Pasific Bala Subramanium and gender adviser Sabitri Sing were present with Registrar of Cooperative Department M Mofizul Islam in the chair.
Ranga said the government is working with utmost sincerity to expand cooperatives to turn Bangladesh into a middle income country by 2021.
It is urgent to promote cooperatives for women to ensure sustainable developments in the country, he added.
There is immense potentiality of expanding cooperative, Ranga said and urged all to come forward to make cooperative movement a success.
A total of 20 women from different districts are taking part in the training where experts from home and India will hold the sessions.
