In order to accelerate economic progress in the country, the government will take steps to strengthen further cooperative movement for lifting the people out of poverty, State Minister for LGRD and Cooperative Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga said on Saturday. “There are enormous scopes for widening cooperatives to boost development process in the country,” he told a function at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on the occasion of 44th National Cooperative Day-2015 here. Registrar and Director General of Department of Cooperative Department M Mofizul Islam, among others, addressed the function with Secretary of Rural Development and Cooperative Division MA Quader in the chair. Referring to success stories of different cooperative societies, Ranga said cooperative could be used as an important tool of poverty alleviation and it needs to be expanded for achieving more economic gains in the country.
