Convicted prisoner flees from DMCH

A convicted criminal escaped from a toilet at the outdoor department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday.
Sohel, 40, escaped through the ventilator of the hospital toilet around 12:30pm soon after he was released and was being taken to the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj, said Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia, In-Charge of DMCH Police Outpost.
As per the verdict of a mobile court, he has been
serving a two-year imprisonment in a narcotics case filed under South Keraniganj Police Station.
Sohel was admitted to Ward No. 217 on Monday with urine infection under the supervision of jail guards Azizul Hakim (Batch No. 12591) and Nazrul Manik (Batch No. 12972), the SI said.
Aziz and Nazrul were suspended for their negligence in duty, said Senior Jail Super of the Central Jail Jahangir Kabir.
Further action will be taken against them after investigation within 15 days, Jahangir Kabir said.
A case was filed with the Shahbagh Police Station in this connection.
