Convicted Indian national dies in Jessore hospital

An Indian national who was convicted in a smuggling case for three years died in Jessore Medical College Hospital in massive cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning.
The dead was identified as Bijoy Kumar, 40, resident of Tulshinagar under Nagpur in Maharastya state in India, jail and hospital sources said.
Kajol Mollick, medical officer, Jessore Medical College Hospital told that Bijoy Kumar died at the coronary care unit of the hospital at around 10am after he was taken there by the Jessore Central Jail authority.
Shahjahan Ahmed, superintendent of Jessore Central Jail told that Bijoy was taken to the hospital as he felt sick in the morning. He died there later.
Bijoy Kumar was a convicted prisoner bearing number 90/A. He was convicted for three years after being arrested with gold bars on June 23, 2014, jail sources added.
In another incident, a female employee of brac was found dead at her resident at Bakchar in Jessore town early Tuesday.
She was identified as Bilkis Khatun, 35, field worker of nongovernmental organization brac and wife of Anisur Rahman, programme organizer, brac, Jessore.
Bidhan Kumar, sub -inspector, Jessore Kotwali police station told that being informed the police recovered the body from her residence at Bakchar in Jessore town early Tuesday. ‘The body bore marks of tortures,’ he added.
Ilias Hossain, officer in-charge, Kotwali police station told that it is not clear whether it is an incident of killing or suicide.
