Controversies fuel up over Eden College BCL new committee

Eden Mohila College’s new committee of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have faced intense controversy after announcing its new committee as allegations of married, over age and controversial people’s inclusion in the new committee.
BCL central committee announced the 48-member of Eden Mohila College’s new committees on Friday while Tamanna Jasmine Riva and Razia Sultana have been made president and general secretary respectively. Besides, 30 vice-presidents, five joint general secretaries, and seven organising secretaries have been picked up.
However, controversy has erupted over the two vice-presidents of the new committee so far.
The two vice-presidents are Umm Rumman Rumi who is above the
prescribed age of BCL constitution and Sushmita Baroi who is reportedly married. According to the constitution of BCL, the maximum age limit of BCL leaders and activists is 29 years whereas vice-president Rumi’s age is more than 34 years.
According to Umm Rumman Rumi National ID, she was born on November 17, 1987. As such, she is above 34 years old on the day of the announcement of Eden College BCL committee.
Criticism is also going even on the ‘New Eden Mohila College BCL committee’ as selecting them in the committee.
The correspondent called over the phone several times to know about the allegation. However, it was not possible to contact them.
Meanwhile, Umm Rumman Rumi told to the media, “There may be allegations. When a new committee is being announced, many allegations are thrown. But that is not true.”
Asking her date of birth, she said, “In fact, there is nothing to say.”
Earlier, a news reporter was verbally abused by Sushmita Baroi, vice-president of the new committee, for asking her about the allegation of being married.
BCL General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee told the media in this regard, “If the allegation is proved, organisational measures will be taken.
