The 26th death anniversary of the former Editor of Dainik Nayabangla Alhaj Abdullah al Sagir was celebrated through a discussion meeting held at Nayabangla office premises on March 29 .
Swadhin Sangbadpatra Patak Samity arranged the discussion meeting in observance of the death anniversary with its President Journalist SM Jamaluddin in the chair. General secretary of the samity Md. Nazimuddin moderated the discussions . Chairman of Chittagong Journalists Cooperative society and a noted journalist Moinuddin Quadery Shawkat graced the occasion as chief guest. Note social personality Alhaj Md. Iqbal, elder son of the demise and ed itor of the daily ZM Enayetullah Hiro, human rights organiser N Mohd Putu, Online journalist M Momin, journalists Milon Barua, Shamal Nath, Mahmudul Hoque Ansari, younger son of the demise BM Ahsanul Kader and noted journalists, elites of the soeicty participated the anniversary program as discussants.
The chair of the program, Journalist SM Jamaluddin in his brief deliberations said Abdullah al Sagir was the father of the modern journalism and a creator of objective journalism.
The then largest circulated Bangla daily Nayabangla dicharged the responsibility of the objective journalism without compromise with the corruptions and nuisances of the society and always depicted the true picture of the society without any fear.
He was the role model of the objective journalism and father of the modern journalism, the speakers added. Besides, doa mahfil and khatme quoran was also arranged at his native village home in Garduara village of Hathazari upazila and Tanzimul Moslemin Yathimkhana premise in city.
General Secretary of the Dviisional Social Welfare Federation Alhaj Hafez Amanullah presided the discussions and doa mahfil at Tanzimul Yathimkhana premises.
The participants in the doa mahfils at Hathazari and city prayed for peace for eternal peace of Alhaj Sagir Ahmed, sources added.
