Assailants shot a construction contractor to death in the city’s Mohakhali area on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Nasir, 48, hailed from Ghoshairhat upazila of Shariatpur district. He lived in Dakshinkhan area of the capital.
Police recovered the body from in front of the Boro Masjid in Mohakhali Dakshin para area on Sunday morning.
Banani Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC, Investigation) Md Borhan Uddin, said that Nasir was a contractor. He was inspecting the construction work of the mosque. Miscreants fled away after shooting him, said the SI quoting locals. He was an accused in a murder case filed in 2007.
We are investigating the incident, he added.
The deceased’s younger brother Al Imran said that Nasir had so far no enmity with anyone. He was an accused in a case filed for killing one BM Khaleque in Khilkhet in 2007 and that might have led to the murder, he claimed.
