UNB, Dhaka :
A construction contractor was shot by extortionists in the city’s Rampura area on Friday.
The victim was identified as Basai Fakir, 25.
Sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said a group of 8-10 extortionists went to the construction site in East Rampura around 7pm and demanded toll to Fakir.
As he refused to pay the toll, the attackers fired a gun at the contractor and chopped him with sharp weapons, leaving him injured.
Critically injured Fakir was taken to the DMCH.
