Contracted millers reluctant to give rice in Adamdighi

Owners of contracted mills in Bogra’s Adamdighi Upazila are reluctant to supply rice to government food warehouses during the current IRRI-Boro season. Millers are reluctant to put rice in warehouses this season as the price of paddy is higher in the open market.
However, the deadline for the government procurement drive expired on August 31. Due to low collection, the government extended the deadline by another 15 days till September 15.
Although 10649 MT of cooked rice was supposed to be collected in the upazila, 5793 MT was collected. On the other hand, 2273 MT of paddy was supposed to be collected, but 1250 MT was collected.
However, light rice has not been purchased in three warehouses so far. Information: Published in the relevant Upazila Food Office. It is learned that the target for procurement of cooked rice at Santahar LSD in Adamdighi Upazila of Bogra in the current procurement season was 5636 MT.
So far 2044 MT has been collected, 2200 MT in Nasratpur LSD, 2000 MT has been collected. The collection target at Adamdighi Sadar LSD was 871 MT. 542 MT has been collected. In all, it has been possible to purchase about 56 percent rice.
Talking to Upazila Food Controller Paritosh Kumar about this, he admitted the above information and said that the allocation of Santahar Boishakhi Auto Rice Mill is three thousand MT. Allocation of Salman Auto Rice Mills is 500 MT. They have not put rice in the warehouse so far. In addition, some other agreement mill owners have expressed reluctance to give rice in this situation of purchase campaign. However, there are still 13 days left. It may be possible to collect more rice and paddy in these 13 days.
