Coast Guard forces in Chittagong seized huge quantities of Indian sarees, 3-pieces worth about Tk.71 lakh from well known cloth market of the port city- Reazuddin Bazar on Friday morning.
Lt.Commander of Coast Guard, East Zone Nurul Huda told that a operation team of Ctg Coast Guard base acting on secret information conducted raid in the market where seized 336 pieces of 3-piece and 3240 Indian sarees . The approximate cost of these clothes is about Tk.71lakh , sources said.
The smugglers procured these clothes in a illegal way from India by evading govt taxes and stored in the market . Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the smugglers escaped from the spot and coast guard forces seized all these clothes . None was arrestedin this connection, sources added. The seized goods handed over to Chittagong Customs authority, sources said.
