Foreign contraband cigarettes worth Tk 7 lakh 56 thousand have been seized from a passenger on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight came from Dubai at Shah Amanat International Airport.
The NSI airport team seized the cigarettes around 10:30 am today .
Airport Director Wing Commander Farhad Hossain Khan confirmed the matter.
According to sources, Biman’s BG-147 flight from Dubai landed at Shah Aman at 8:10 am. During the search, 252 cartons of Mond, Dunhill and 303 brands of cigarettes were found in the luggage of Anisul Islam of Lohagara, Chittagong. If the market price of each carton of cigarettes is calculated at Tk 3,000, the total price of these cigarettes stands at Tk 7,56,000.The recovered cigarettes were seized and handed over to the airport customs and filed a departmental case, airport sources added.
