Customs intelligence accompanied by Natioanal Security Intelligence(NSI) team seized a consignment of contraband foreign cigars from the luggage of Biman passengers at Chattogram Shah Amanat Internatinal Airport on Thursday midnight.
Airport sources said these cigars were seized when a Bangladesh Biman flight came from Abu Dhabi .
Acting on secret tip off the se intelligence team searched the luggage of a number of passenger and detected these cigars instead of gold bar. Sources said these law enforcing agency members were apprised for carrying gold bars by these passenger but after searching cigars found in the lugguage of 8 passengers.
These passengers also declared of carrying 21 gold bars to the customs and these gold bars may be cleared after payment of necessary govt tax, airport sources said. Mentionable that a total of 1050 cartons of different brands of cigars seized and the seized cigars handed over to customs for further necessary actions, sources added.
