UNB, Dhaka :
Claiming that the victory in their ongoing movement is very close, BNP on Tuesday called upon people to continue the agitation against the government until it announces to hold an inclusive election under a non-party administration.
In a statement, BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed, said, “We vow to continue the ongoing peaceful democratic movement until the government quits and announces to arrange a free, friar and participatory election accepting the mass demand of caretaker government.”
Mentioning that all the patriots and democracy-loving people have got united under BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s leadership, he said, “The ongoing movement aiming to restore people’s basic and human rights, voting rights and establish a representative government ousting the current illegal and usurper government is close to its victory.”
Salahuddin alleged that law enforcers on Monday killed a Jamaat leader in Sirajganj while a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader at Rupnagar, Mirpur in the city. “We strongly condemn and protest such killings in cool brain. The sacrifices of these democracy-loving and patriot activists will not go in vain.”
He warned that the government will not be able to cling to power even after turning the entire country into a death valley.
The BNP leader further alleged that the government has continued its conspiracy in a bid to malign their democratic movement by carrying out acts of sabotage by government agents.
He said, the Awami League-led regime is making its evil efforts to shift the blame on opposition by hurling petrol bombs on people by its agents.
“We’re repeatedly demanding the government try those involved in the dreadful acts after arresting them and conducting fair investigations into the incidents,” the BNP joint secretary general said.
BNP and the 20-party believe in non-violent and peaceful movement, he said thanking people for observing their transport blockade and hartal and make those a success.
