The delivery of imported consignment laden containers increasing gradually in the premier sea port Chattogram after Eid-ul- Fitr holiday.
Following the Eid-ul -Fitr day, 344 TUEs containers were delivered from port on Thursday and the next day on Friday , total number o 791 TEUs containers and 991 containers were delivered on Saturday.
Port sources said on any working day, the average delivery of containers not more than 4000 Teus but in any religious holidays like Eidul Fitr and Eidul Azha, the delivery declined to maximum extents Joining Secretary of C&F Agents Association Kazi Mahmud Imam told that the full-fledged handling of containers will resume from Sunday from opening day after Eid holiday. Secretary of Chattogram Port Omar Faruk told that despite less delivery of import consignment during Ramadan month, but the load, unload in containers went on randomly.
He the operational capacity of the port will be incrased if the the private ICDs takes away the containers in due time. According to sources of Transport department of CPA upto Saturday 8 pm, total of 7,773 containers were handled in port during the period of 24 hours and it is hoped that the delivery will become normal trend within 2 or 3 days.
The total storing capacity of containers in port is 49 000 TUEs .
