Disruptions in gas supply: Consumers suffering

The gas supply in the port city disrupted at large on Wednesday and in most places in the city supply was totally stopped during the day. As a result the city dwellers suffer at large.
The gas transmission became normal yesterday at about 9 am.
 Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Ltd sources said this disruptions in supplying gas to the consumers caused due to technical fault of Ashuganj Gas compressor station.
While contacted the Deputy General Manager of Karnaphuli Gas said , the gas compressor of Ashuganj Station became out of order at 2 am on Wednesday .
 A housewife of Jamal Khan area in city told this correspondent that from early morning of Wednesday gas supply was totally suspended and they compelled to buy foods from outside hotels.
Most of the house holders had used kerosine stove during the whole day.
KGDCL sources said the total demand o f gas in Chittagong is about 500 to 550 million cft gas but supplying only 200 to 220m cft which is continuing since long . The demands of the port city is maintaining through rationing system.
Meanwhile the industrial units are deprived of 12 hours gas supply per day under holiday staggering device for the industrial consumers.
Besides, Raozan Thermal Power plant (unit-1) , Sikalbaha Power plant and CUFL factory suspended their productions lack of gas supply. Sources said the total number domestic consumers of KGDCL is about 477 lakh , industrial consumers one thousand and commercial consumers 2500.
