Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, MP, Wednesday said the construction of Shahjalal Fertilizer Factory at Fenchuganj in Sylhet would be completed in June 2015.
“Seventy-three percent of the construction work of the country’s largest fertilizer factory has already been completed,” he said and hoped that the rest of the work would be finished in time.
The industries minister was talking to journalists after visiting construction of the factory at Fenchuganj.
He expressed satisfaction over the progress of the construction work, said an official release.
Replying to a question, Amir Hossain Amu said the government is working for sustainable and knowledge-based industrialization.
Remarkable progress has been achieved in industries sector because of different policies and programmes adopted by the government, he added.
Amu hoped that Bangladesh would become a middle-income country before 2021.
After the visit, the minister was presented a guard of honour by local scouts at the main gate of Natural Gas Fertilizer Factory Limited.
Mahmud-us-Samad Chowdhury, MP, and Industries Secretary Mohammad Maeenuddin Abdullah were present on the occasion, among others.
