Construction of brick-built houses for homeless being built in Palashbari

Construction works of brick-built houses with having sheds by corrugated iron (CI) sheets are being built for homeless people in Palashbari upazila of the district.
Upazila administration is implementing the works under the Ashrayan Project-2 taken by Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Each of the houses is being built at the cost of one lakh and 71 thousands Taka, said an official.
On Monday, deputy commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin visited the under construction houses at Chandipur village under Mohdipur union of the upazila.
During the visit, Abdul Matin told reporters that the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took initiative to provide houses to all homeless people of the country marking the Mujib Year.
At that time, Shahida Begum, a homeless woman who is going to get a house, thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for taking initiative to gift houses to homeless people as tears of joy were rolling out her cheeks.
She also wished long life and sound health of the premier.
Upazila Chairman AKM Moksed Chowdhury Bidyuit, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kamrouzzaman Nayan, acting Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Jahirul Islam, political leaders and public representatives were present on the occasion.
Talking to the BSS, UNO Kamruzzaman Nayan said a total of 60 houses are being built for the homeless people in the upazila.
Average 50 percent works had already been completed, he said.
