Construction of 54 small dwelling houses named ‘Bir Nibash’ for landless and insolvent freedom fighters (FFs) has been going on in full swing in Sunamganj. It would cost a total of Tk 44.8 million.
Already construction of most of the houses is complete while works on some others are going on, official sources informed.
Each of the houses would cost Tk 0.91 million under a project launched by the government in July 2013, which is set to be completed by June 2017, said an official of the project’s implementing body LGED.
Each of the small houses would have one living room, two bedrooms, one kitchen and a verandah. The floor area is on 500 square feet, in addition to a washroom, a pucca premises, tubewell, toilet, livestock-shed and poultry-shed.
Construction of 12 houses in Sunamganj Sadar, 11 in Doarabazar, seven in Chhatak, five in Tahirpur, four in each of Biswambharpur and Derai upazilas, three in Shulla, two each in Dakshin Surma and Dharmapasha, and three in Jamalganj Upazila have been going on. These are nearing completion except those in Dharmapasa, an official said.
Except in Dharmapasha, works on the houses would be completed soon handed over to the FFs in a month, the official added.
