Construction of 3rd terminal of HSIA to begin on Dec 28

Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) Air Vice Marshal Md Mafidur Rahman said the construction work of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the capital will begin on December 28.
He said this on Thursday while addressing as the chief guest of a view exchange meeting with journalists at the airport conference room.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to inaugurate the foundation stone on December 28. The construction work will began on the same day. The project is expected to be finished by 2023,” Mafidur said.
He also said that the airport authority will be able to serve more 12 million passenger movements per annum.
During the meeting, it was informed that Japanese donor agency Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Bangladesh government will finance the project.
According to the CAAB, the total worth of the mega project taken by the government is Taka 22,000 crore.
Earlier on October 24 in 2017, the ECNEC approved the master plan.
