Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved the construction of 142-storey tower at Purbachal, outskirt of the capital Dhaka.
The tower named ‘Iconic Tower’ will be the ‘tallest building’ in South Asia.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith disclosed this while talking to the risingbd at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
“We have just got the papers signed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and a deal will be signed very soon with the US-based firm Kali Pradip Chaudhury Group”, the finance minister said.
The government was scheduled to sign the deal on May 12 but it was deferred as formalities related to the tower could not be completed, he added. The capital’s development agency Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) has fixed a 60-acre area in Purbachal New City and drawn up plans for the tallest building.
