The Power Development Board (PDB), Chittagong has taken a scheme to construct 14 power sub-stations having 33/11 KV capacity each in Chittagong, Bandarban and Cox’s Bazar districts as a part of the government’s master plan to boost power production.
The PDB has also a plan to reinstall eight old sub-stations in order to increase their production capacity.
Of the 14 sub-stations, construction of 12 sub-stations in Chittagong district and city is undergoing while the remaining two stations will be set up in Bandarban and Ramu of Cox’s Bazar districts involving Taka 1,500 crore, Project Director and Superintending Engineer of PDB, Chittagong zone Engineer Prabir Kumar Sen told journalists
Of the total cost, Taka 1,100 crore will be spent for new sub-stations while Taka 400 crore for rehabilitation of old ones.
The construction works of the 4 new sub-stations in the port city have already started, he added.
The proposed sub-stations are being constructed in Kalpalok residential area, Annayna residential area, Maijertek area under Karnaphuli thana, Rahmatgonj area under Kotwali thana, Mansurabad area under Double Mooring thana, Oxygen area under Biyazid thana, Kalurghat area under Chandgaon thana, Asian Women University and Ananda Bazar Khulshi thana, Kattali area under Pahartali thana, Madambibir Hat area under Sitakunda thana of the district, Bandarban sadar and Ramu sadar upazilas.
The existing sub-stations of Fujderhat, Barabkunda, Barawlia, Fish Harbor, Bakalia, Kulshi, Hathazari and Chowkaria will be reinstalled.
