Awami League presidium member and former minister Advocate Sahara Khatun, MP, alleged that the conspirators of the August 21 carnage of 2004 have again been hatching conspiracy to save the war criminals.
“The BNP-Jamaat combine mounted the August 21 grenade attack of 2004 at the anti-terrorism rally of Awami League to kill our party president Sheikh Hasina and other stalwarts. The conspirators behind the carnage have again been hatching conspiracy to save the war criminals from gallows,” she said urging the people to build united resistance against conspiracy being hatched by BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Sahara Khatun said this on Friday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organised in front of Rajlakkhi Market at Uttara Sector-3 in the city.
Dhaka City North unit Awami Juba League organised the meeting followed by a doa mahfil in memory of Abul Kalam Azad, one of the martyrs of the August 21 carnage, with its organising secretary Md Mamun Sarker in the chair.
Awami Juba League (AJL) central presidium member Mokhlesur Rahman Heeru, Dhaka City North unit AJL general secretary Md Ismail Hossain, Uttara Thana Awami League (AL) joint secretary Md Mahbubul Alam, AL leader Advocate Abu Hanif and business leaders Mohammad Ali and Anwarul Islam were the discussants, among others.
Sahara Khatun said, “The perpetrators of the August 21 carnage will not be spared. They will be tried in the sacred soil of Bangladesh and none can save them from the long hands of the law.”
Later, a doa mahfil was held at the venue praying for eternal peace of the departed soul of Shaheed Abul Kalam Azad.
