The government will defeat all the local and the foreign conspiracies engaged in destabilising the country with an iron hand, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
“From the very beginning I’ve been telling that the killing incidents are happening as conspiracy is being hatched at home and abroad,” he said speaking at a memorial meeting on Major General Khaled Mosharraf at the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka on Saturday marking November 7 as the Muktijoddha Soinik Hotya Dibas.
The Home Minister said that stern action would be taken against the killers of bloggers.
He said, activities of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir, who have chosen the path of subversive acts, have been controlled. They have become desperate to foil the ongoing trial of crimes against humanity by terror acts.
“They are the defeated forces and militant and terrorist organisation. Their any conspiracy will be handled with iron hand,” the Home Minister said.
“These criminals will be resisted politically and by law. Members of intelligence agencies have already identified the killers and arrested some suspects as well,” he said, hoping to track down all the assassins for exemplary punishment.
He said they are deeply shocked by the blogger killings and the nation detests all those involved with the killing mission,” he said, adding there is an interlink in the incidents of attacks on foreigners and bloggers and publishers.
“In the name of Ansarullah Bangla Team, IS (Islamic State), al-Qaeda, the activists of Jamaat-e-Islami are involved with such attack,” he reiterated.
Meanwhile, Detective branch (DB) of police, in an overnight raid, detained seven suspected members of Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), an outlawed militant organization, from different areas under Airport Police Station in the city.
In Faridpur, members of the joint forces consisting of police, RAB and BGB in separate drives arrested 37 local Jamaat leaders and activists and three BNP men from the different parts of the district on Thursday night and on Friday.
Police said that they conducted raids in various other places of Bhanga, Boalmari, Sadar and Nagarkanda upazilas and detained Jamaat-shibir leaders and activists and also the local BNP leaders.
The law enforcers have taken the actions as a preventive measure to check any untoward incidents to keep the law and order peaceful for the citizens, the sources added.
