Consolation win for Lanka

Tourists Sri Lanka recorded a consolation 97-run win over the hosts Bangladesh in their third and final One Day International (ODI) match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Friday.
Bangladesh clinched the three-match ODI series 2-1 at the same venue.
Batting first Sri Lanka piled up a fighting total of 286 for the loss of six wickets and then all-out Bangladesh for 189 off 42.3 overs. Opener Kusal Perera played the key role to help Sri Lanka to make a massive total.
Kusal Perera hit a superb 120 from 122 balls featuring 11 fours and a sixer. Besides, Dhananjaya de Silva remained unbeaten with 55. He hit four fours in his 70-ball knock.
Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed restored some parity for his team grabbing four wickets in the space of 46 runs.
Besides, Shoriful Islam got one wicket conceding 56 runs.
Bangladesh faced an early debacle as they lost their three wickets for 28 runs. Opener Naim Sheikh, one-down Shakib Al Hasan and opener Tamim Iqbal were dismissed for 1, 4 and 17 runs respectively. All the three batsmen were the victim of Dushmantha Chameera.
Then Mushfiqur Rahim and Mosaddek Hossain repaired the damage contributing together 56 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Mushfiqur Rahim (28) was caught at the long-on by Dhananjaya de Silva off Ramesh Mendis when Bangladesh’s total was 84 for the loss of four wickets. Mushfiqur Rahim was adjudged the Man of the Series.
After Mushfiq’s dismissal, Mosaddek Hossain and Mahmudullah Riyad fought back adding together 41 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Mosaddek Hossain was caught at the short third man by Binura Fernando off Ramesh Mendis when Bangladesh’s score was 125 for the loss of five wickets.
Mosaddek Hossain hit a fine 51. His 72-ball innings was studded with three fours and a sixer. It was Mosaddek’s third ODI half-century.
After Mosaddek’s departure, Bangladesh batsmen failed to make any notable partnership.
Mahmudullah Riyad played really well making a fine 53. He struck two fours and a sixer in his 63-ball knock. It was Riyad’s 25th ODI half-century. Riyad was caught behind by wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella off Ramesh Fernando when Bangladesh’s innings came to an end.
Chameera captured five wickets at the cost of 16 runs. Chameera was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Ramesh Mendis and Wanindu Hasaranga bagged two wickets each conceding 40 and 47 runs respectively.
