Afghanistan Cricket team posted a consolation seven-wicket win over Bangladesh Cricket team in their third One Day International (ODI) match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday. Bangladesh clinched the ODI series 2-1. Chasing Bangladesh’s total of 192 off 46.5 overs, Afghanistan romped home making 193 for the loss of three wickets when they had 59 balls to spare.
Opener Rahmatullah Gurbaz remained unbeaten with 106. His 110-ball innings saw four sixes and seven fours. Gurbaz was adjudged the Man of the Match.
One-down Rahmat Shah made 47 from 67 balls featuring three fours.
Opener Riaz Hassan scored 35 from 49 deliveries with four fours and a sixer. Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged two wickets in the space of 37 runs, while Shakib Al Hasan took one wicket for 47 runs.
Bangladesh had a good start as the openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das put on together 43 runs in the opening stand before Tamim (11) was bowled out by Fazalhaq Farooqi.
After Tamim’s dismissal, Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan repaired the damage adding together 61 runs before Shakib was bowled out by Azmatullah Omarzai when Bangladesh’s total was 104 for the loss of two wickets.
Liton Das notched up a marvelous 86. His 113-ball innings was studded with seven fours. Liton reached his fifty-run landmark using 63 balls with five fours. It was Liton’s fourth ODI half-century.
Shakib made 30 from 36 balls featuring three fours.
After Shakib’s removal, Mushfiqur Rahim (7) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Rahmatullah Gurbaz off Rashid Khan when the home side’s score was 121 for the loss of three wickets.
After Mushfiqur’s departure, Yasir Ali (1) was caught at the sleep by Gulbadin Naib off Rashid Khan when the hosts’ total was 125 for the loss of four wickets. Then, Liton Das was caught at the mid-on by Gulbadin Naib off Mohammad Nabi when the Tigers’ score was 153 for the loss of five wickets.
After Liton’s departure, Afif Hossain (5) was caught at the mid-on by Mujeeb Ur Rahman off Mohammad Nabi when Bangladesh’s total was 160 for the loss of six wickets.
After Afif’s dismissal, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (6) was run out by a direct throw of Najibullah Zadran when Bangladesh’s score was 175 for the loss of seven wickets.
Number-9 batter Taskin Ahmed (0) was trapped leg before wicket by Rashid Khan when the hosts’ total was 176 for the loss of eight wickets.
After Taskin’s departure, Shoriful Islam (7) was run out by a direct throw of Mujeeb Ur Rahman when Bangladesh’s score was 189 for the loss of nine wickets.
Number-11 batsman Mustafizur Rahman (1) was run out by wicketkeeper Rahmatullah Gurbaz and Bangladesh’s innings came to an end.
Rashid Khan grabbed three wickets at the cost of 37 runs, while Mohammad Nabi bagged two wickets in the space of 29 runs.
Azmatullah Omarzai and Fazalhaq Farooqi took one wicket each for 29 and 33 runs respectively.
