Chittagong Customs House authority seized a shipment of import banned old photocopier machine instead of declared brand new multifunctional printer.
The shipment came to Chattogram port under the name of Mrs. Access Traders of Dhaka. It filed a Bill of Entry on December 8 in the Custom House t hrough a C&|F agents of Khatunganj, Chattogram.
Deputy Commissioner in charge of the Audit Investigation and Research (AIR) branch of the Custom House Nur Uddin Milan said that, under the direction of the Commissioner of the Custom House, the AIR branch is working to eliminate the tax evasion and smuggling. Because of this, there was secret news that AIR branch locked the shipment B / E No-C-1890960. On December 10, a physical test was run over the consignment.
During the physical inventory , instead of the brand new multifunctional printer, 50 pieces used multifunctional photocopier and a used SPDF for multifunctional printer were found.Legal action will be taken against the importer for importing such banned product aimed at money laundering practice.
