Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate officials seized a covered van loaded with garments accessories and equipment imported under bond facilities. The officials detained the covered van at Port jetty No. 5 on Monday evening .
The approximate cost of the seized garments accessories is about Tk.2 crores, sources said.
While taking away these imported garments equipments from port evading the govt taxes aimed at selling in the open market , the covered was seized.
Acting on secret tips off, customs officials seized the consignment instantly from exit point of the port .
Asstt. Director of Customs intelligence told that a export oriented garments factory of CEPZ imported declaring 2400 pieces sewing machines from abroad under bond facilities .
After opening the covered van it was found that there are huge garments accessories and equipments inside the covered van.
Gold worth Tk.30 lakh seized
Customs officials in Chittagong shah Amanat International airport seized 153 numbers of gold chain weighing about 600 grams from a air passenger yesterday morning. The passenger Al Amin came from Dubai in Fly Dubai flight which landed Ctg airport at about 10 am yesterday.
The approximate cost of these gold is about Tk.30 lakh sources said. These gold chains were recovered after checking his luggage at airport.
