Congestion was also reported on a 1.5 kilometre stretch of the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway near the Meghna-Gomoti Bridge yesterday morning.
According to the Comilla Eastern Highway Superintendent of Police Paritosh Ray, a 1.5 km line of traffic stretches along the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway from the toll plaza on the Meghna-Gomoti Bridge.
A truck stalling in Comilla’s Padiar Bazar area around 6:45am led to the congestion, police said.
Though movement sped up after the obstruction was cleared, there was still heavy congestion around the bridge.
“We have told the toll plaza to release vehicles as soon as possible and are trying our best to speed up traffic,” said Paritosh Ray.
