A deep confusion has been raised among the people over the confessional statements given by the arrested suspects at police custody in connection with the murder of Italian national Cesare Tavella in Dhaka’s diplomatic zone.
They observed with mystery also over the recent statements given by members of the law enforcing agencies and relatives of the arrested suspects.
“How is it possible to get statements so easily from professional killers in a span of only few hours?” they questioned.
The law enforcers should not make any so called drama like “Judge Mia” over the killing of the two foreigners killing, viewed a section of people.
On Monday, “One of the suspects admitted their involvement in connection with the Tavella murder during police interrogation. In such a short time of interrogation, the arrested criminals confessed their all plans and motives behind the killing.”
Police repeatedly claimed that they have been enabled to get vital information from the detained persons to the relevant crime.
Meanwhile, families of the four suspected men held in connection with the murder of Tavella have claimed that the arrestees were not involved
in the murder. Even some of the families said they came to know about the arrest seeing the television news.
BNP standing committee member Gayeswar Chandra Roy, while laying floral wreaths at the grave of Ziaur Rahman in the city on Tuesday said that his party has no connection with the killing of two foreigners and the Hosene Dalan bomb blasts. Nothing is happening without the directives of the government, he claimed.
He told journalists that BNP leaders are being involved with these incidents only to hide the real criminals
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia told a press briefing at the DMP headquarters on Monday that the arrested persons confessed to the police that they were hired by one ‘big brother’ (Boro Bhai) to kill Tavella in exchange of money.
However, the DMP top notch could not give details of Boro Bhai but said that the drive is on to nab the ‘big brother’.
The arrested persons confessed that the killing mission was conducted to create instability in the country, the DMP boss claimed.
It was told that Chakti Rasel, Bhagne Rasel and Rubel were directly involved in the killing mission while Sharif had supplied the motorcycle used in the killing mission.
Asadsuzaman Mia said the vested quarters have killed the Italian national, aiming to create pressure on the government for their political gains. “It was not a targeted killing. The vested group had planned to kill any white-skinned man to show that Bangladesh is not safe for foreigners.”
Earlier on Sunday night, detectives arrested Md Russel Chowdhury alias Chakti Rassel, Minhajul Arefin Russel alias Kala Russel and Md Shakhawat Hossain alias Sharif and Tanjid Ahmed Rubel alias Mobile Rubel alias Shooter Rubel.
In separate reactions, the families of the four suspected men held in connection with the murder of Tavella have claimed that the arrestees were not involved in the murder.
Minhazul Arefin lives in Middle Badda in Dhaka with his family. His father Sirajul Islam said Minhazul used to deal in used furniture. Minhaz was picked up by plainclothesmen on October 12, but the Detective Branch (DB) office said then that they did not arrest him. A general diary was filed with Badda Police Station in connection with the missing incident. He has come to know about the arrest of his son on Monday (26 October). Arrested Sakhawat Hossain also lives in Madhya Badda. His brother Shohagh said Sakhawat was picked up by DB police men on October 14, but the DB office denied the matter. Shohagh has known about the arrest of his brother through TV news.
Another suspect Russel Chowdhury was detained by plainclothesmen, who introduced them as DB police, from their house at South Badda on October 10. His mother Afroza Aktar said Russel is a BNP supporter, but he is not holding any party post. Afroza claimed her son Russel was not involved in the murder.
Shirijan Begum, mother of the other arrested Tamjid Ahammed and her brother Towhid Mia said Tamjid was missing since October 12. They searched for him at places, including the DB office, and a GD was filed with Badda Police Station as he could not be traced anywhere. Tamjid’s relatives saw in TV news on Monday that he has been arrested.
Contacted, Muntasirul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP, said that People had no chance of confusion over confessional statement in connection with the Tavella murder by the detained persons at police custody.
“We did not make any pressure to give information over the murder incident,” the police official said.
He refrained from making any comment over the ongoing investigation for the shake of proper investigation.
The police official requested the countrymen not to be confused followingh the allegations of the relatives of the arrested persons.
