A conflict arose between the in-laws and parents of a woman over her death in Chittagong city’s Panchlaish area on Monday.
The in-laws of Jannat Ara Bithi, 22, claimed that she hanged herself, after taking her to a Chittagong hospital where she was declared dead. The parents of Bithi, wife of Jasim Uddin and mother of a five-month-old girl, however, claimed that she was murdered.
On information, police rushed in and sent the body to Chittagong Medical College morgue for autopsy.
Panchlaish Police Station Sub-inspector Hasan Ali said he mentioned in his inquest report that he found a bruise mark on the throat.
Jahangir Alam, assistant commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (North Zone), said they will look into whether it is a murder or suicide.
