Public Health Department of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organizes a two day long “AIUB 1st Conference for Young Public Health Professionals” at its premises on 29th and 30th November aimed for ‘Fostering Young Brains into Action’.
Prof Dr A K Azad Chowdhury, Chairman (State Minister), University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), inaugurated the program as chief guest.
Dr Carmen Z. Lamagna, Vice Chancellor of AIUB presided over the program.
Ishtiaque Abedin, Hon’ble Chairman, AIUB given the welcome address as the Special Guest.
The key note speech was given by Dr Mushtaque R. Chowdhury, Vice-Chairman, BRAC on “Universal Health Coverage for Bangladesh: Rhetoric or Reality?”. At the end vote of thanks was given by Dr Charles C. Villanueva, Pro-VC of the university.
Renowned national public health professionals and students from different public and private institutions from Bangladesh attended the conference.
It promises unrivaled opportunities for sharing experiences, dissemination of scientific findings, networking among the broad spectrum of next generation public health experts, and promoting new experiences under the context of Universal Health Coverage.
Around 300 attendees come together for two days of networking, professional development and personal growth opportunities.
Pathfinder International, Save the Children, Water Aid, and ORBIS International participating in this conference as a partner organization.
The conference include different plenary sessions, parallel sessions and a panel discussion featuring some important issues related to public health problems and prospects in Bangladesh.
The 2nd day and closing ceremony was attended by Ishtiaque Abedin, Hon’ble Chairman as Chief Guest, Prof Dr Deen Mohammad Nurul Haque, Director General of Health Services, Government ofthe People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Dr Shahidullah Shikder, Pro-VC (Res and Dev) Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University were Special Guests were Dr Carmen Z. Lamagna,VC of AIUB presided over the event.
About 10 important papers on Public Health issueswere presents and the recommendations made for implementation will be useful for betterment of thePublic health Sector in Bangladesh.
