Condolences pour in for New Nation Editor A.M. Mufazzal

He was laid to rest at Uttara graveyard

Renowned journalist and The New Nation Editor A.M. Mufazzal, who died on Saturday night, was laid to rest for eternal peace in city’s Uttara’s Sector-4 graveyard on Sunday after Asr prayer.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held on the National Press Club premises at 11:00am where fellow journalists showed their last respect to him.
The second janaza was held at Uttara Sector- 4 Masjid after Asr prayers. Later, he buried nearby graveyard beside his late wife.
Senior journalists, Jatiya Press Club (JPC) management committee members, BFUJ-DUJ leaders, colleagues, friends and other people participated in the Namaz-e-Janaza of 89-year old journalist.
JPC Senior Vice-President Hasan Hafiz, General Secretary Elias Khan and late Editor’s son Rajib also spoke on the occasion.
Among others, journalist leader Shawkat Mahmood, Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Naya Diganta Editor Alamgir Mohiuddin, Robbar Editor Syed Tosharrof Ali, DUJ leaders Kader Ghoni Chowdury and Kuddus Afrad took part the Namaz-e-Janaza at JPC premises.
Recalling the memories, Alamgir Mohiuddin told The New Nation that the late Editor A.M. Mufazzal was a brilliant journalist.
“I worked with him at least 20 years in various newspapers like now-defunct the Morning News and The Bangladesh Times, and The New Nation. He did his job with utmost sincerity and tried to serve the task maintaining unity. He honoured everyone’s opinion and never put pressure on anyone,” said Alamgir Mohiuddin, who is also a former Editor of The New Nation and now Editor of the Bengali newspaper Naya Diganta.
In his condolence message, Barrister Mainul Hosein, Chairman, Editorial Board of The New Nation said, Mr A.M Mufazzal was anxious to remain committed to the values of journalism. He has with us for a long time and we are all grateful to him for his leadership as the editor in shaping The New Nation as a trustworthy newspaper of high standard. His civility and firmness in maintaining his professional dignity in the midst of hard time was admirable. I personally was respectful to him and feel his absence in deep sadness.
Qulkhwani of late Editor A.M. Mufazzal will be held in his own residence at Uttara on March 4 (Friday) after Asr prayer. His only son Rajib has requested all to take part in the Qulkhwani and doa mahfil.
The renowned journalist A.M. Mufazzal breathed his last at his Uttara residence in the capital at 6:40 pm on Saturday.
