Tributes and condolences continue to pour in for Prime Minister’s Political Affairs Adviser and Awami League Advisory Council Member HT Imam, who passed away in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 82 at a city hospital.
Immediately after his demise, people from all walks of life as well as different political parties and leaders expressed their shock and sent condolences.
Deputy Leader of the parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury and a number of cabinet members on Thursday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death Hossain Toufique Imam, popularly known as HT Imam. In separate condolence messages, the deputy leader, ministers and state ministers prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
The cabinet members who condoled the death of HT Imam included Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi, Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzak, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan.
Besides, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan, State Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Swapan Bhattacharjee, State Minister for Social Welfare Sharif Ahmed , State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder.
In separate condolence messages, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam also expressed deep shock at the death of HT Imam and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
He was serving as the political affairs advisor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina since 2014.
