A condolence meeting was held in the memory of late Advocate Syed Mustafa Ali, father of Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain.
Bangladesh Jatiya Ainjibi Samity organized the condolence meeting in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) building on Wednesday.
President of the Bangladesh Jatiya Ainjibi Samity Advocate Shah Khasruzzaman presided over the meeting, while Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Senior Advocates Dr Kamal Hossain, Barrister M Amir-ul Islam, Vice-Chairman of Bangladesh Bar Council
Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, President of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Advocate Zainul Abedin and former Law Minister Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru were present, among others, on the occasion.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain said, “Father’s death is hard to forget. My father Syed Mustafa Ali was my guide and teacher. We lost the shadow with his departure. He was like a shadow on my head, which is no more today. I am grateful to those who have expressed sympathy after his departure.”
Dr Kamal Hossain said, “Advocate Syed Mustafa Ali was a lucky father. He was an Advocate and his son is the Chief Justice of the country. What could be more than that for a lawyer?”
Advocate Syed Mustafa Ali died on June 26 in 2018 at his 94. He breathed his last at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka at 3:45 pm, Supreme Court’s Registrar General Dr Md Zakir Hossain said. He was suffering from old age complications, he said.
