The concluding parade of 19th Batch of National Training Institute , Chattogram and 8th Batch of Madaripus Unit of the National Maritime Institute was held at Chattogram yesterday.
Minister for Shipping Md Shahjahan Khan graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Principal of NMI Capt. Faisal Azim delivered address of welcome. Representatives from armed forces, civil elite and ship owners from home and abroad attended it. The chief guest in his address mentioned that following the dreams of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the development programs are continuing simultaneously in different sectors. He said with the aim of creating skilled manpower in maritime sector, NMI and other marine based training institutes of the country are working relentlessly to develop the sector. Principal of the NMI also mentioned that govt has permitted to undergo course of Pre-sea Cadets. In connection of introducing Pre-Sea cadet course, a six storied complex named Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal complex in the premises of NMI.
He also apprised that in present location of dilapidated Seamen Hostel, a Maritime Museum in the name of Bangamatha Sheikh Fazilatunnesa will be built .
Besides, a modern Seamen Hostel will be built in the same premises for better services to the seamen of home and abroad.
