Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim urged everyone to be united to end child marriage from the society.
“We will have to work together to end child marriage from the society without considering religion, cast and political view,” he said.
He said this on Saturday while speaking as the chief guest at a roundtable titled, “We need Law enactment and Implementation soon’ at the Prothom Alo office at city’s Karwan Bazar area.
Prothom Alo, World Vision Bangladesh and Child Rights Advocacy Coalition Bangladesh jointly organised the roundtable.
Joint editor of Prothom Alo Abdul Kaium moderated the programme.
National Human Rights Commission Chairman Dr Mizanur Rahman, member of Standing Committee on Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Matin Khasru also spoke on the occasion.
“Law enactment is not enough to stop child marriage, but we all will have work jointly to create awareness, increase women education and reduce poverty in the country,” he added.
