Comrade Rono’s mother Kaniz Fatema dies

Kaniz Fatema Mohsina, mother of Comrade Haidar Akbar Khan Rono, a presidium member of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), died of old-age complications at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the early hours of yesterday. She was 92.
Mohsina, wife of late Hatem Ali Khan, the first chief engineer of the Roads and Highways Department in Bangladesh, left behind two sons-Haidar Akbar Khan Rono and valiant freedom fighter Haidar Anwar Khan Juno a host of relatives and well wishers to mourn her death.
She was a close associate of Poet Sufia Kamal, a pioneer of women movement in Bangladesh.
Workers Party President and Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, CPB President Mujahidul Islam Selim, CPB Adviser Manjurul Ahsan Khan and presidium member Ahsan Habib Lablu, among others, placed wreaths at the coffin of Mohsina.
Different political, social and cultural organisations also paid their respects to Mohsina.
In a condolence message, CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim and general secretary Syed Abu Zafar Ahmed expressed profound shock at the death of Mohsina.
They prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
