The 27the death anniversary of Comrade Mohammad Farhad, an ex-general secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), will be observed today in a befitting manner.
Comrade Farhad, also a former member of Jatiya Sangsad, died of a heart attack on this day in 1987 in Moscow at the age of 49. He went to the then Soviet Union capital for treatment.
To mark the day, the CPB and other organizations have chalked out different programmes.
The programmes include placing of wreaths at his grave in the capital, discussion meeting and public meeting.
Leaders of the CPB and other organizations would lay wreaths at his grave at Banani in the capital.
As part of the countrywide programme, the CPB will hold a discussion meeting at Mukti Bhaban at Comrade Moni Singh Road at Purana Paltan in the capital at 4.30 pm and a public meeting at Boda in Panchagarh, the birthplace of Comrade Farhad, at 3 pm today.
He was one of the architects of the special guerrilla forces jointly formed by the Communist Party, NAP and Chhatra Union during the Liberation War.
He was elected a parliament member from Panchagar-2 (Boda-Debiganj) constituency in 1986.
